Hi Tim,

This is a great post on goal setting. I agree 100% that the resolution to achieve a goal is the most important thing, the rest is just the details.

For a simple approach to setting goals and being more productive, you may want to check out http://www.GoalsOnTrack.com, a very nicely built web app designed for tracking goals and todo lists, and supports time tracking too. It’s clear, focused, easy to navigate, worth a try.

Gyms are like most businesses and are designed to attract a certain clientele. Throughout my life I belonged to one gym or another including, Family Fitness, Center, 24hr Fitness, Mavericks, Golds, and others. At the time, I joined each particular facility seemed to meet my needs.

However, my needs have changed, I no longer want a social hangout or desire to be Mr. Olympia. I do enjoy working out with others, who want to optimize their health and have fun doing it. The bootcamp allows me to have this type of experience while offering new and intense workouts which minimize my chance of injury.

Well let me put it this way. If you like the Ellipitical then don't expect to get much in return. Your investment in time and effort will yield very little results. So if you like to do it it because you enjoy doing it, great then go at it, but it really is one of the most inefficient ways to lose fat. Also I must repeat that it really limits ankle mobility causing your knees to mobolize(Hyperextend-Ouch!), which is you dont wan't to happen to your knees. Also the same thing happens to your hips, very little hip mobility is achieved on this machine which will just cause back and knee issues. So thats why it made my top 7 list of worst exercises. There so many other options that yield amazing results and take so much less time, that you would be crazy to even consider using the Ellipitical for fat loss and health, that is if you go to the gym to get results :)

Oh but there's more...like what the chickens were pumped full of on the "farm", how they are raised, what they are fed and how they are dispensed with.

How can chickens raised in cages (crammed so full that they can't turn around, much less walk around or peck or scratch), stacked to multiple stories inside a building, fed genetically modified grain, pumped full of antibiotics and possibly hormones, be considered a healthy option to begin with? For KFC to then add the list of nasty ingredients on top of that...well, it's just NOT FOOD.

The first time I saw a semi truck loaded with cages crammed so full of chickens that you couldn't shove a penny between the bodies (and yes, they were still alive), was the day that free range became my priority. My body and soul are better for it.

Okay, I'll bite my tongue and climb down off the soap box now.

Tim and Donnie, I couldn't be happier to see you growing! Won't go into my sad state here--shoulder op is scheduled for 05JE09: both humerus and glenoid (a build-up with living bone). Not fun! Keep your rotators well oiled. D
